Incorporated in British Columbia and based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, Kia Engineering Inc. was founded in August 2023 by Dr. Kianosh Ashkani Zadeh, Ph.D., P.Eng., who serves as its President and Principal Engineer. Dr. Ashkani Zadeh holds both a Master of Applied Science (MA.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural and Earthquake Engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver. During his academic career, he developed a pioneering methodology for assessing the seismic vulnerability and collapse potential of structures, earning recognition from leading experts in the field. He later held positions as a Research Associate at UBC and as a Senior Structural Engineer with globally renowned firms such as WSP and Parsons.
Dr. Ashkani Zadeh has made significant contributions to his field through numerous publications and certifications, and has earned multiple honors and awards for his achievements. He holds a Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.) from Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
In addition to his professional practice, Dr. Ashkani Zadeh is an active member of several prestigious technical and professional organizations, including the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE), the Structural Engineers Association of British Columbia (SEABC), the Canadian Association for Earthquake Engineering (CAEE), and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI).
